Moisturiser Tips

Every day our skin is subject to environmental stressors, whether that be sitting in an air-conditioned office all day, walking about in a busy polluted city, or being over-exposed to nature’s elements. If you’re wanting to effectively protect your skin, then applying a good quality natural and organic moisturiser – as the final step to your morning skin care sequence – is a must.

Why do I need to moisturise

Your moisturiser helps to seal in the hydration and active botanicals from your face mist and/ or serum, providing an effective barrier so you can head out in to the world and enjoy your day.

“But doesn’t my moisturiser provide the hydration?” you might be wondering. Not exactly. The most common question I receive from customers is “do I really need to use a Face Mist?” The answer is always YES. Face Mists and Moisturisers go hand in hand. It’s the Face Mist that helps to balance the moisture level in your epidermis, providing hydration to your skin. And then your moisturiser seals in that hydration, whilst also providing active botanicals to address your skin concerns, whether that be smoothing fine lines, calming sensitive skin that is prone to redness, preventing oil build-up and blemishes or simply to provide a beautiful healthy glow.

Moisturisers also help to provide a smooth canvas ready for makeup application.

When do I moisturise

Every day, as the final step to your morning skin care sequence. Ideally, you would cleanse your skin first, spritz a mist over your face, then apply a beauty oil or serum and finish with the moisturiser.

Please remember

It’s a good idea to gently cleanse upon waking. Our skin is in a state of regeneration and repair in the evening, as well as elimination. So effectively preparing your skin via cleansing (and exfoliation) enables all those active botanicals in your moisturiser (and serums and beauty oils) to penetrate deeper in to the layers of your skin to bring about the results that you desire. As opposed to sitting on a surface of dead skin cells.

Choose a moisturiser that is free from synthetic fragrances, mineral oil and other petroleum-derived ingredients that interfere with the skin’s natural function, clog pores, exacerbates acne, and are highly likely to be contaminated with carcinogens linked to cancer.

Always apply your moisturiser to damp skin. A quick spritz of your favourite Face Mist not only hydrates your skin but it also gives more ‘slip’ so that you end up using less of your moisturiser per application, making that jar last twice as long. And that $ stretch twice as far.
